Where to discover science? Science centres, planetariums and festivals in Poland

Science can be discovered outside universities in every voivodeship. Our overview includes: venues – 78, festivals – 14, trails – 8.

Science centres and planetariums

Types of venues in the overview: science centres – 63, planetariums – 8, museums of technology – 5, science gardens – 1, observatories – 1. Alongside large centres such as the Copernicus Science Centre or Hydropolis, there are small SOWA science centres, which the Copernicus Science Centre opens in smaller towns.

Festivals and science picnics

Science festivals are usually organised by universities together with cities. The one with the longest tradition in our overview is the Science Festival in Warsaw (Festiwal Nauki w Warszawie) – its 29th edition took place in 2025. Every year, on the last Friday of September, European Researchers’ Night is also held.

Trails

Trails link venues into themed routes: “In the footsteps of Nicolaus Copernicus”, “Maria Skłodowska-Curie's Warsaw”, “Industrial Monuments Route of the Silesian Voivodeship”, “Poland in space”, “In the footsteps of Ignacy Łukasiewicz”, “Underground Poland of technology”, “Enigma – in the footsteps of the Polish cryptologists”, “The oldest universities and their monuments”. You will find them all in the Science outreach section.
