Universities

Higher education institutions in Poland according to the POL-on register: 344 – public, non-public and church. Searching by city and the region filter also cover branch campuses.

Poland has 344 higher education institutions listed in the state register POL-on. For each one this catalogue shows whether it is public, non-public or run by a church, whether it is an academic or a vocational institution, which degree programmes it offers and in which cities, its research categories from the national evaluation and the disciplines in which it may award doctoral degrees.

Public, non-public and church institutions

There are 136 public, 190 non-public and 18 church institutions. Independently of that, the law divides them into academic (137) and vocational (207) institutions: the type depends on the results of the research evaluation, not on the name – see Academic or vocational university?. Names such as “uniwersytet” or “politechnika” are reserved by law for institutions that meet set conditions, explained in the glossary.

Branch campuses

86 institutions also teach outside the city where they have their seat – in 198 branch campuses. Searching by city and the region filter include these locations, and the pages of academic cities list every programme taught there.

How to choose

Start with the search box or narrow the list with the filters. On an institution's page, check the profile, mode and language of the programme you are interested in, the research categories in the disciplines that matter to you and, if you are thinking of a PhD, the right to award doctoral degrees. Put two or three institutions side by side in the comparison tool.
